The last few weeks of my pregnancy was getting tiring, busy, and rough. I was not able to do as much as I would have liked to with Nathan and my blood pressure was up and down so I was at the doctor office and at the hospital getting baby stress tests alot. The same thing happened at the end of my pregnancy with Nathan, but we did not have to worry about a baby sitter, but the Grandma's sure did help out alot watching Nathan this time! To be honest it was kinda nice to get the break! The baby stress tests are always relaxing and I love hearing tha babies heart beat and I usually fall asleep!
Well it was a very long weekend, but super exciting! It all started Friday Febuary 1st, 2008! Friday morning I started having contractions here and there, then SaturdayI had another baby stress test and yes they were diffently contractions, but not consistent. I was so excited because I thought maybe I would be able to experience natural birth! I got induced with Nathan and he just did not want to come out so a c-section was the only option. So Sunday comes along and the contractions were a lot more painful, but still not consistent! Daves Mom was sure we were going to have a Super Bowl Sunday baby! I was hoping not because my Doctor was actually coming home from Hawaii that day and not back in the office until today! Its almost like Matthew was waiting because between 12:00am and 1:00am Monday morning I started having consistent contractions about 15 minutes apart, then as the early morning rolled on 12 minutes apart, then 10, then 8 minutes apart. About 4:30am they were 5 minutes apart so I called the hospital and they told me I could come in at anytime, but I would probably be laying there for a while. So I was waiting until my contractions were closer together until we left for the hospital. I let Dave sleep as long as possible because I knew it would be a long day and I tried to get some sleep, but everytime I would close my eyes I would have another contraction. It was about 6:30am and my contractions were about 2 to 4 minutes apart lasting 35 to 55 seconds long so Dave called his parents to come over and watch Nathan and we left for hospital about 7:30am. Those minutes in between the contractions were the greatest minutes! My Doctor actually was there already, so he came in and checked me out and I was dialated to 4. We were so excited! They got me all set up in a room and about 9:30am I got the epideral! I felt contractions here and there, but no biggy! I slept a lot and it was great! Dave & my Mom were there all day with me! Daves parents watched Nathan all day until it got closer to delivery time! It was about 3:30pm and the nurse came in and told me that they were going to come back shortly and break my bag and just as she was starting to walk out it broke it self! Weird, huh! I was dialated to 9 at this point and almost ready to see our new son! Dave, my Mom, & Dave's Mom helped me and watched the delivery! It was very painful, but the most beautiful experience I had ever had! I feel very grateful for the way everything happened! It was so awesome and I loved it! Dave felt like he was a huge part of Matthew being born and he loved it! It could not have gone any better! Natural was so different from the c-section and I hope that I will be able experience it again!
This was after my epaderal so I'm really not in pain, Dave just wanted me to take this crazy picture!
